This little printer has been my workhorse for years and has proven more reliable for me than any of the newer printers I've purchased over the years. These ink cartridges work great and perform well. I keep several on hand at all times and order replacements several times a year. Great product.

The HP 290 uses HP 78 ink. The 78 cartridge has been discontinued as all models the cartridge has been compatible with are discontinued and have been for over a decade.

45 Black is great! My question is about 78 color cartridge - Why would HP only have the Black 45 and not the Color 78 to go along with it? The only HP printer to work perfectly every time is our DeskJet 990Cse printer after all these years!!
