WHY IS INK SO DARN EPENSIVE
I have had trouble with refilled cartridges from third party suppliers so I like to go right to the primary, which is HP for my printer. The cartridges usually work OK although I have had problems with the colors from time to time, but the cost of a few drops of ink is just ridiculous and the waste of colors in a triple system is huge when one tends to run out so much faster than others. Seems like EPSON has the right idea. I like HP products generaly, but would love to see reasonable prices.

The Ink and I
Although I only use HP ink in all of our printers, I once tried a replacement brand for the 60XL Black as well as Tri-color because it was less expensive. There was a tremendous difference in color and black resolution and they didn’t last half as long. HP inks are worth the difference especially because as an architecture office, the printer quality is very important.

I bought this ink cartridge about a month ago and it is working fine, but the reason I had to purchase it (as I do not print a lot) was because the previous cartridge did not work properly and I had to remove it with almost a full cartridge and return it. I felt I should be entitled to a new cartridge at no charge. The faulty one is on it's way back to you.

For the HP ENVY110 printer, do I always need to install a color cartridge even if I'm only doing black and white printing ? If not, is a SINGLE black and white cartridge (60 XL) sufficient to install or would I need to install two ?
HP Printers that use two cartridges (one black, one tri-color) can print if one cartridge is empty. To continue printing, remove the empty cartridge from the printer. If a Single-cartridge mode message displays, select OK. If you are using the black cartridge, prints are in black and white (grayscale). If using the color cartridge, colors print normally but black prints lighter than usual. You can continue to print until print quality becomes unacceptable.
