Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow XL902 are Alright!
On December 24 2020 I purchased the individual XL 902 printer toners online.
Four different colors, except I mistakenly ordered a XL906 Black instead of the usual XL902 black.
I sure wish that the HP Store would have caught this error in advance.
Since my HP Office Jet Pro can't use the XL906 type toner.
The HP Store went ahead and sent me the XL 906 black toner.
After unsuccessfully trying to contact the HP by phone.
I had to go back and check on the original orders, glad I didn't delete them.
I caught my mistake, and I was able to return the XL906 black to the HP Store.
They in turn will recredit back to my credit account.

Out of Stock Backorder
I was happy I could get the HP ink I needed. I wished that the Cyan Ink which was not in stock could have been but automatically on backorder. It would have been very helpful not to have to reorder several days later. Hope this is something you can offer in the future.

Yellow has green ink & customer service impossible
Yellow cartridge literally has green ink in it and magenta and cyan still register as not having any ink in them. Customer service/virtual agent is a circular chat system that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to talk to human. I paid a lot of $$ for hp cartridges and have spent SOOOO much time trying to get them to work. Not impressed!

Problem
This replaced a defective black ink cartridge that leaked & made a mess in my office. I tried to contact hp about it but had no luck online or by phone. Its the first time I've had a problem & hope it never happens again.

Yellow HP 902 XL
I am so happy printer cartridges 902xl but learned at different stores that there was a nationwide shortage. For example Staples and Amazon. The suggestion was to approach Hewlett-Packard direct me to get this this particular color that was on a shortage list.

how do I remove the orange protector from the cartridge?
Hello. Thanks for your question. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides, and then twist the protective orange cap counter-clockwise to snap it off the ink cartridge.

RE: HP902 XL Color vs 902 Standard Color Cartridges Are the HP 902 XL Color cartridges the same size as the standard cartridges, except w/more ink? My printer is the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 and the only space for a large cartridge is for the black.
Yes, the 902XL color cartridges are the same physical size as the 902 standard size. The 902XL has more ink. Thank you for your question!
