The printer that they were ordered for went bad, and had to be replaced. How can we use these cartridges in another 8600 printer ? So I bought all four colors (C, M, Y, and B - this one). I bought these directly from HP and installed them in the printer. The printer continued to say that the cartridges were not compatible. I used HPs troubleshooting tools and recommendations. I tried - as recommended - to install new firmware in the printer. Although I could download the firmware & driver updates from HP, the firmware would not install on the printer. I finally gave up, took the HP printer to electronics recycling, and bought another brand of printer.

My HP Office Jet All in One 8712 Printer is out of colored ink. I simply want to buy 1 -3 color cartridges. I do not want a monthly program.

Thank you for your question! You don't have to use a monthly program. You can still buy the compatible cartridges for that printer and you are good to go. The 8712 printer will use the HP 952 ink cartridges.

Can I still buy any printer that uses 950/951 ink?

Thank you for your question regarding the 950/951 inks. There are currently no active printers that use those cartridges. The HP store does not have any models on hand that use those cartridges.
