I have a HP EliteBook 845 G7 Notebook PC and have been using an HP Thunderbolt Dock 120 W G2. Recently the dock has stop connecting to the hard wired internet and my computer USB-C features: states the Thunderbolt is not supported? What changed?

Your 4CJ41AV is a CTO machine, we don't have its specs. But it should have the same ports as the following machine https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06308295 1 HDMI 2.0; 1 headphone/microphone combo; 1 USB 3.1 Gen 2 (HP Sleep and Charge); 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 (10 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 1 Thunderbolt™ 3 (40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery 3.0, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge) and the Thunderbolt™ 3 port is on the right side, the last one from the card reader. If this is the case then this Dock will be compatible.

What is the difference between thunderbolt dock G2 and G4?

When using the Virtual Dual Display should I expect to get max resolution on each side, i.e. 1440? Currently, my monitor maxing out at 1080 when using the Virtual Dual Display.

The HP E45c G5 DQHD Curved Monitor is capable of dual QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution in the connected displays. DisplayPort™ 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 is required to drive the panel at its native resolution. The video card of the connected PC must be capable of supporting 5120 x 1440 at 165 Hz with 8-bit color using one DisplayPort™, HDMI. The video card of the connected PC must be capable of supporting 5120 x 1440 and include one DisplayPort™ or one HDMI output to drive the monitor at the preferred mode.

The VESA mount requirement for this Monitor is 100mm by 100mm which carries a 30.8lb weight limit. This HP E45c G5 DQHD Curved Monitor will be compatible with this weight limit.

Does this have a DisplayPort MST hub inside that drives the two displays? Mac systems do not support DisplayPort MST, so my Mac will only recognize the presence of a single display and both displays will mirror each other.
