Exactly what I needed.
This works exactly how it's supposed to. My laptop doesn't have a disc drive, so I couldn't put my music CDs on it. Found this and decided to try it. I am very happy with it.

Works Great!
I just bought a new HP zbook and for some reason it did not include a CD drive, and was advised by HP instead of having one added to my computer, it is just better and cost effective to buy an external driver. I just bought a new Honda CRV and needed to Rip my Cds to the computer and then transfer to a USB port to listen to them to my truck. This driver did everything I hoped it would. For $75 great purchase. I am NOT tech savvy, and even I could do this with a little help from utube tutorials. So happy with purchase, quality of transfer of the CDs was awesome. Thanks to the HP tech that advised me to purchase this driver.

I bought this with old school attitude on external cd room's (not liking them) but ! this on has no external power cords ! No disk to install drivers ! and best of all, just plug & play .
will work on both the tower and laptop, great buy !

I purchased this after I had already ordered my HP Laptop before I realized it did not include a dvdrw drive. I thought that almost all computers came with a drive...much to my surprise, I was wrong. Too late now’ hence the external unit.

Easy setup!
This the first plug in play external drive I ever bought and I am really surprised how easy it was to get working. I was burning DVDs 15 minutes after receiving it and am very satisfied with the product, it works with EVERYTHING!!

It Seems to Work
I have not used the drive very much yet. However, it seems to work a lot better than my laptop's internal DVD RW Drive (mostly because my HP laptop's internal hp DVDRAM GU90N DVD RW Drive seems to have quit working). Setting the external drive up was a little tricky because the drive didn't appear in my "This PC" at first. If I recall correctly, wiggling the (included) USB cable (on both ends) resolved the issue. I have used the external drive to listen to an audio CD, as well as play (and later install) a game that doesn't require using the CD-ROM disc (once it's installed on a computer) on my laptop. Although the external drive has done what I have wanted it to do so far, part of me wishes I had bought a replacement internal hp DVDRAM GU90N DVD RW Drive instead. The external drive requires a USB port and (at least for me) desk space. It's also a different color than my laptop, and does not have a security cable slot.

Quick and Quiet
Purchased to add DVD drive to new PC that did not come equipped with one. Works great, please upgrade future products to Blu Ray. A non Blu Ray player/Recorder is kind of obsolete in todays market.

Good product
This product so far has been good and practical. The sad news is that I bought it because the internal DVDRW drive that came with my recently purchased HP all-in-one PC is not reliable. It is flimsy in its design and you run the risk of the CD falling inside and not coming out. But again, this external drive we are rating is good.

Great Features and Simple to Use
With our older HP Computer, we decided to purchase an external DVDRW Drive. Now, with this very inexpensive but quality external drive, we can watch our movies, listen to the holiday music and not need to spend a great deal of money for a new PC.

Very well made,Truly Plug & Play.
Worked within seconds of plugging in to my POWERED USB hub connected to my Windows 10 Pro 64-bit HP Laptop and having no problems reading and writing to my CD/DVD's. Playing movies, Installing software, Reading and Writing numerous photos, creating system backup disk. This CD/DVD drive is doing it all for me. A sturdily made product. Much better than the less expensive, No-name brands (at least to me) I ended up returning. Well worth the extra cost of other brands, knowing that I have a quality product and should I need support, HP will be there to help.

There are differences. Buy HP
From everything I had read, all external drives are essentially the same and all are plug and play. So I bought a $25 cheap unit. It was not plug and play. Apparently its best year was the same year Windows 7 was brand new. I returned it to Amazon and bought my HP. Brand new stock manufactured 2 months ago. It works great, while the other unit did not work at all with Windows 10. What more can I say?
