However, I also have the need for frequent scanning of documents, many of which have many pages. The Smart Tank 6001 does not have a feeder tray, only a flat bed, allowing for one page at a time.

A top feed would be far easier to use than the current removal of the paper and top tray, along with the hard-to-reach feed guides. While printing on paper was good, I had to call hp to get a tech to install a driver that cured the fuzzy printing on envelopes.

    The photo quality would be the same or similar to the ENVY printers as they both have a max output of 4800x1200 dpi when set to photo and printing on photo paper. You can adjust the size for smaller than 8.5x11 as you can print on 4x6 cardstock and photo paper. The max media weight for cardstock this unit can handle is 110lb.

    I have an HP Photosmart 6520. I'm looking to replace it due to its age. I work from home. I don't know if I'll be able to install the drivers on my work laptop. I have an HPeprint email that I've used in the past. Is that available to use on this printer?

    With the ones that use the HP Smart Advance app, you can set it up to print by email, but it would still require the app to be downloaded. If you can download the HP Smart app from the Windows or Apple store depending on the unit, you would be able to use that setup. The HP+ and HP Smart Tank units have access to the HP Smart Advance app. The HP+ unit would require you to opt-in to HP+ first, and that is free. For something close to the HP Photosmart 6520, you would be looking at the current ENVY Inspire models, but they use two cartridges instead of four.

The black ink bottle can print up to 6,000 pages while the color cartridges are capable of up to 8,000 pages. You will be hard-pressed to find a cheaper alternative.

    How easy is print head cleaning? I have 2 Epson eco tanks for several years and after the first year the print quality is terrible. When you do a print head clean eventually a small waste tank needs to be replaced.
