Absolutely Perfect
I’m so happy I chose this printer. It’s really easy to use and setup was a breeze. I’m a homeschooling mom, so we’re going to be using this a lot!

Excellent printer for the money
I'm very happy with this printer, especially now that I no longer have to reorder ink cartridges. The reservoirs hold ample amounts of ink and are quite easy to fill. The print quality is also excellent. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that duplex printing is not automatic. You have to manually reinsert the pages into the paper feeder to print the second side. This was not necessary on my old HP printer.

Troubles with Setup
I bought it as a test to replace future printer purchases in my businesses. Unfortunately I hit a snag in the setup process as it keeps telling me I have a paper jam. I was eventually able to figure out how to talk to customer care and got some help. But couldn't fix it all the way. I am assuming this is just an anomaly, but it is giving me pause on spending the money again for this model. I enjoy HP products and the ecosystem, so I hope it is just a one time issue.
Only other issue I didn't make note of when ordering was that it's a back loaded paper tray, not a bottom loaded tray. Which would have been my preference. Especially with a printer with such high capacity ink.

HP Smart Tank Plus 651 review
Print quality excellent, print rate on medium to slow side. Scan images excellent. I give it a 3 star rating due to frequent codes asking me to remove and reinsert 1 of the print heads. You can either do that or power down unplug for 30 seconds and the code clears. This is not a major issue but can be very annoying when you are in a hurry and the isdue comes up.

I love HP printers! but the problem with the prices of ink, I think they need to come up with a better solution to this issue, that's the reason I bought this one but the ink seems to go down very quickly, but it's cheaper...

Why the smart Tank
So nice to save on ink costs, unbelievable efficient. I miss the auto two sided printing as my other HP 6970 has and had to weight the ink vs paper costs. The Smart Tank 651 is slower but the clarity of pictures is much better.

Great features
I purchased this about a month ago. I like all the features it has, but setting it up to be able to use all the features was time consuming. I had to install a different program for every feature.

It works, but has problems.
I bought the HP Smart Tank Plus 651 on the recommendation of an HP guy from India because I was hoping to fix the head print problem with my trusty, 10 year old HP Office Pro Plus printer/scanner/copier.
I failed to do my homework and spent $450+ on this one, when I could have bought one that would do the same thing for half the price.
Pros of the HP Smart Think are: 1) the ink - cheaper and lasts longer in bottles you can buy, and 2) it is a bit smaller and lighter.
Cons: 1) It doesn't have duplex (both-side) printing and wastes paper; 2) it is slow; 3) the paper feed only accepts a few sheets; 4) often the paper feed catches and causes time to remove and replace paper; 5) the paper feed is at the back of the P/S/C and that is inconvenient for the position at which my P/S/C is located; 6) the amount of paper in the rear paper feed is small; and 7) I have had paper feeds from the back clog way too often, causing time to fix the problem
I would have bought a different P/S/C if I had done my homework, rather than listening to the Indian HP representative.

New Printer Experience
This is the latest HP printer I have purchased. It is now available to our two PCs. The ink tank feature will save us money. Product was taken in at 7:12pm and was operational that same evening. I used the Start Here booklet and then 123.hp.com.

Awesome Printer
I purchased my printer a few weeks ago, it has a number of features that are useful and convenient. With the number of things I use my printer for, it meets my needs along with other creative endeavors I come across. The 651 allows my experience to be simple and achievable.

My Smart Friend / Care Package on my previous printer was excellent however HP could not fix it so they replaced it. I requested a HP Smart Tank 651 after paying the difference I received my new printer the printer is excellent however, I needed to enlarge the print on a document after calling the HP Customer Service and talking with the support dept. finding out that this $400.00 printer is unable to enlarge the print my old printer the Office Jet 8600 Pro did all the features + enlarge print too.....So I don't think this Smart Tank Printer is all that great......I've been Purchasing HP products for the last 20 years ....So now I am re-thinking about HP products you would think HP would think of having this feature in a $400.00 printer.....WRONG !!! So don't call it a Wireless ALL-in-One Printer.... the other issue with this $400.00 Printer is I've been using it now for only approx month and I have used half the ink, HP said the ink if for 2 yrs ???? that's only true if you print only 5 pages a day.... what a joke....this $400.00 Print should have a 1500 + print per month
So, ask me again how good is this HP Smart Tank Printer..... # one ! would I recommend this printer NO>>>NO>>> I am re-thinking on purchasing a different brand of printer...My old HP Office Jet 8600 Pro Wireless All-in-One Printer was excellent it lasted 5 yrs + My daughter's has the same HP Printer and it still going strong ....
Am very disappointed with you HP Smart Tank 651 Printer it's not worth the $400.00 or $500.00

The print quality and the low profile are two features. However, I prefer the two paper trays on the hp model that was replaced.

I Wish I Had Known
I purchased this printer because my older one, with which I had been very pleased, got a clogged printer cartridge tray which would not clear out even with cleaning it as per HP instructions. I purchased this one thinking it was an even higher quality than my HP7525. My great disappointment is that to print double-sided documents I must manually load them. I had no idea and had assumed that, with the price of the printer, double-sided printing would be automatic.

So far disappointed in printing speed.
I received this printer a couple of weeks ago. It was easy to set up but it prints very slow. Luckily i don't print very many copies at a time. I was more concerned about saving some money on the ink. It is terrible that you can buy a new printer for the cost of 2 ink cartridges. It is quieter than most when it prints. For the size of the printer it has only a top paper holder ...no tray. I need more time to evaluate overall performance.

Slow to print
It has a long delay from the time you press the print key till the printer responds. I would appreciated paper instructions in addition to the the tech & online ones. Still trying to figure out the instructions for the fax to see if it even works. Not really as happy as I thought I would be.

Overpriced for sure!!!!
Way overpriced especially for the ink I would possibly save with this model...wish I would have looked at other HP printers...had an hp $70.00 printer that would print on both sides of the page...this doesn't even do that!

Not impressed
The ink tanks are a great idea - no problems with them. However, the print heads were defective right out of the box, HP was great about sending replacements. Upon trying to copy, the printer has a problem, tried to cancel & it goes into an unending cycle, tried shutting the printer off, another unending cycle, only way to fix was to unplug the printer. Happens quite frequently. Not what I expect from HP!

Smart Printer, Smart Buy
I love the HP Smart Tank Plus printer! Setup was quick and I love the HP Smart App that connects to my iPhone. I enjoy couponing and I am able to print directly from my phone even when I am not at home when I spot a good deal. Anything I need is ready for me when I walk in the door! The ink bottles are eco-friendly, spill proof and last for up to 8000 color pages! I would be lucky to get 500 pages out of previous printers I have owned. The prints are fantastic, worthy of quick and easy picture quality that I can pin to my work station. The 651 model is another great addition to the HP family that I would recommend to all!

Some really good features
I love that I can see the ink levels. I don't have to keep extra ink cartridges on hand if I'm printing a loot. The only thing I don't like is that the printer does not print front and back automatically u have to manually have to flip the page.
