It works perfectly.
G5 dock came on time. It works perfectly with another Thunderbolt device and all the peripherals (e.g., mouse, keyboard, etc.) The HDMI connection works great because the prior brand docking was not rendering the accurate color saturation. Overall, we are super happy with the purchase.

My HP USB-C Dock G5 is the Best!
This little beauty does everything I want it to in a compact package. I can pull in my beloved MS Natural keyboard, my ancient Deskjet 932c printer, my external hard drive and my external monitor, and everything works well together to give me a real personal computer experience. As my needs change I can add other external devices like a DVD drive.

HP USB-C G5 Dock
I really like everything about this dock. The design, build quality and ports. I just wish it had and on/off switch so I didn't have to unplug the USB C cable from my laptop every day after work. It's just unnecessary wear and tear on my laptops USB C port.

Not compatible with HP Pavilion
I intentionally called HP directly to purchase a docking station that would be compatible with my specific laptop, an HP Pavilion. The customer rep sold me this one for $150 insisting that this would work. It is NOT compatible and therefore does not work. Now they're trying to send me a replacement and will not give me a refund.

The HP USB-C Dock G5 is compatible with Chromebooks, whereas the HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock does not show Chromebook compatibility.

I have HP EliteBook 850 G8 with Iris Xe Graphics. Can I use 5120 x 1440 ultra-wide display through HP G5 Essential Dock? Cable to be used. Laptop - Dock : USB-C Dock - Display : Display Port Cable
It can vary depending on the model, but the max supported resolution through DisplayPort is 5120 x 3200 @60Hz for the i7 and i5 11th gen processors that come with the EliteBook 850 G8. The max resolution supported by the HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock with one screen is 5120 x 2880 @60Hz. You would be able to use the 5120 x 1440 setting with this setup.

Does this work with a 15t-dy200?
It will not as the USB C for that unit can only transfer data and supply as small amount of power to things like cellphones. It does not have DisplayPort 1.4 support and power delivery which would be necessary to work with the dock.

I see that with DP 1.4 you can run 2x 4K @ 60hz. Could you run a 1x 4K and 1x QHD (2K or 1440p) with DP 1.4? I currently have a DP 1.4 4K and a DP 1.2 QHD and it lowers the QHD to 1080p maximum and I'd really like 1440p.

Can you use the HP USB-C Dock G5 with a HP Prodesk 600 G6?
According to the generic specifications, the HP ProDesk 600 G6 has two DisplayPorts for dual monitor output. This will not have a compatible USB-C port for use with a USB-C dock. Again these are generic specifications as the ProDesk can be custom configured. For the exact specifications please resubmit your question with the product number of your PC. Thunderbolt™- enabled notebooks will function at USB-C™ speeds. Charging and port replication is supported on notebooks that have implemented USB-C™ industry specifications. Power button to turn on or wake the system, Wake-on LAN from the warm and cold dock, Wake-on LAN from S4/S5, and MAC Address Pass-Through S0, S3, S4, S5 warm and cold dock features only function on HP or HPsupported notebooks. HP does not provide Ethernet and audio drivers on Mac PCs.

Hello. I was just issued a new HP ZBook Fury 16 G9, Product ID 73T27EC#ABA. I was also issued a HP USB-C G5 Essential docking station. I can not get them to work together. Are they compatible with each other? TY for your assistance.
The 73T27EC was not found in the HP Product Database. However, the HP ZBook Fury 16 G9 only uses the following AC adapters: HP Slim Smart 150 W External AC power adapter; HP Slim Smart 200 W External AC power adapter; and HP Slim Smart 230 W External AC power adapter. Based on this information the HP USB-C G5 Dock will not provide enough power to the Fury for compatibility.
