HP Docking station for my HP laptop
I bought the HP docking station so that I could connect a company laptop to two 4K curved monitors and a keyboard and mouse plugged into an 4K KVM switch box and it works perfectly.

The dock has worked well since I got it. I use two monitors, a wired keyboard & mouse, and a scanner. The only issue has been it doesn't power my laptop so I have to plug the laptop and the dock into outlets at the same time.

Like every dock, this one also frequently disconnects and leaves you in a state of limbo where you must fully restart your laptop to get your monitors to work again.

Convenient, sleek, compact and well-equipped with ports, the HP USB-C Dock G5 is a great dock for port-poor laptops and multi-device desk setups for any professional. It's not the cheapest dock out there, but still more affordable than some similarly decked docks, so will be a good pro option for both PC and Mac users.

This port supports Display Port alt-mode. This HP Dock is compatible with HP PCs with an available USB type-C™ port. Laptops must be able to support USB-C™ power, video, data, and/or Thunderbolt™ industry standards.

Would the HP USB-C Dock G5 for business be compatible with a HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop - 16t-f000, Product 39R23AV? Can it charge via the USB-C cable or would I still need to use an external power supply?
The HP 39R23AV does not appear in the HP US Product Database. However, if your HP Spectre includes a Thunderbolt Port then the HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G4 is recommended. If your Spectre is 2019 or newer and has an Intel processor then it should be compatible with that Dock. Or if your Spectre is 2019 or newer with an AMD processor it should have the proper USB-C Port for charging and Display options. If you are charging your Spectre with a USB-C cable currently then your Spectre will be compatible with one of these two Docks. Hopefully, this helped. The model that came up based on the Device ID is the HP Laptop 17-by4401nd when I put it in. That unit would not work with this dock. If that is not the right model laptop, you may want to try contacting HP Support https://support.hp.com/us-en to see. You can also ask again using the model number of the unit if you have that information.

Looking to get an extension cable for this. the 1 meter cable that connects the dock to the laptop is too short. Having issues finding a compatible extension cable (any extensions i try allow for monitors to work but USB seems to lose functionality).

Thank you for your question! The HP USB-C Dock can support up to 3 displays depending on the capabilities of the host machine. Triple 4K displays require a DP 1.4 machine with DSC2 in high res mode. The DSC-supported version and color format depends on GFX capability. DSC is disabled when the display is attached to the VGA port or to an external DP2 VGA dongle. DisplayPort 1.4 must be used and a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 adapter must be present on your ZBook.
