Easy file moving software

Slightly unhappy abouty PC mover
Using the connection that was included would have taken more than 24 hours to do. I had to actually download all the data onto a hard drive and then upload to the new PC.

Very disappointed
This was supposed to mange transfer of everything easier, but be careful if your hard drives on old and new computer are set up differently. New C drive had limited space, so everything hand to be configured to go onto D drive, but certain programs, like iTunes, still don’t work properly. Customer service is helpful, but the number of calls and time spent to get things in the right place made the purchase worthless.

I got new computer and it no longer had files transfer. I was referred to laplink for file transfer. I order the laplink again, and still not good. The majority of computers do not used Ethernet cables. New computer does not have CD/DVD player/writer. Had to buy external for CD install of laplink. The transfer only would transfer some files. The files that did transfer did not transfer everything in the program. It was a big mess!

Sold something i couldnt use would like to return
Unable to use as new pc doesn't have ethernet port . Something the sales rep was aware of and sounded like was going to send version that would have proper cables and would work

It Did Ok
I bought this upon the recommendation of HP.com. It was eventually installed via remote linking by HP. It took about 16 hours to complete the transfer. I am happy with the outcome with the exception that in the transfer, my BigFish games were messed up. I am working with BigFish to get that issue resolved. I would highly recommend this program as it did save me a big headache.

So happy with my new PC
My first laptop after using my old HP desktop for the last 10 years. This new one
is fast and delivers the HP quality that I have become used to. With the laptop, I
dont have as many chords and hookups laying all over and I can actually have room on my desk to do other things.

Really Helpful - But Not Totally
I'm a low-vision person, so my primary concern was preserving my Desktop and screen settings, which PCMover did pretty well, although I had to decrease the resolution. Found stuff in a "Windows C" directory with "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" subdirectories. I had to call Microsoft to get my Contacts moved over. Still trying to get my Screen Savers to function and my "New Mail Notification" to work, among other things. Because I was going from Windows 7 to 10, this was not by no means an "all-inclusive" move. PCMover was a huge help but I'll be "hunting" and "tweaking" for a long time. Still worth the investment.

good product, but with issues
Good product, ultimately worked but was a little confusing at first. Appears that the discs provided are already out of date, and an internet update was required.
Also, after downloading the transfer software to both pcs, the disc would not allow me to put the eraser software onto my old pc. Still haven't resolved that problem.

Easy and support was accessible and great!
PC Mover was easy. We had issues after the fact with a firewall and had to do the PC transfer again. Support was readily available for assistance. I am happy because this new laptop is my wifes and she is happy.

Horrible!
Don't waste your money like I did. It is not easy, I was on phone with help desk for a couple hours to make it work and it wasn't able to transfer many applications from my old PC.

The good thing is it did transfer my data. The bad: the disc sent to me was for an old version. there is no port on y new computer to use the transfer cable so when I finally got new versions installed on both by computers, the transfer was very slow. Have not tried to get it to delete data on my old computer yet

Laplink PCMover not Utilized
Laplink PCMover cost $50 and was not truly needed, though I did work with HP tech support to set my laptop up. I am in the process of returning the product.

I purchased this from HP when I ordered my new computer (which I love). However, it did not include the needed cable to perform the data transfer (it was of course available for an additional cost). So, I had to do it wirelessly, which took 21 hours. I was not informed of this when I ordered the product.

Ok Product
I purchased LapLink and it saved time. It worked relatively well. However, some applications the certifications did not transfer so I had to reinstall. It did not know how to transfer the virtual system i had installed. Overall it was worth it because it saved time and transfered a lot of data. But it is not perfect.

Proof Bots don't work
This product was purchased at HP's recommendation to ease the transfer of all programs and files from my old computer to the new one I am purchasing from HP. Shipment of the new one is 3 weeks out, so I could not have possibly used the transfer product yet. Please be aware of reality before you waste time and gather inaccurate survey data

Not as easy to use as the sales pitch.
I bought this to transfer file from old HP tower to new HP tower. I could not get the software to work with the crossover cable. The additional SafeErase software did a good job with the old pc hard drive.

Knowledgeable chat persons
Hi. We needed to upgrade from our favorite HP Windows 7. Very difficult to give up. We chatted with two cheerful and helpful women. The new Windows 10 arrived March 16. Our grandson and his wife will do the new setup, but have no idea when that will be. Husband's chemo keeps us mostly quarantined until the coronavirus is under control. No visitors so the box remains unopened. The price was good, delivery fast. Thank you

I talked with a customer service rep about what I wanted in the laptop and he worked with me so that I got what I needed. Only have had the laptop for a week, but love it. Very quick, much quicker than my last laptop. No complaints at all.

how long does it take to complete transfer
The amount of time it takes will vary depending on the type of cable you are using, the speed of the drives in the units you are trying to swap the data between, and what type of files, apps, data you are swapping. There is not a way to give an idea of how long it will take without actually starting the process.
