It is just more convenient to purchase them together than separately. I do believe it would be helpful to have a larger Black cartridge than the color cartridge so they will run out together!

Does the 3830 printer fax  scanner only use 2 cartridges.  1 black and 1 multi color or you need a separate ink jet fir each color
